Hands down, two of the best things to come out of Marvel Studios' Loki TV series are Richard E. Grant's turn as Classic Loki and the debut of Alligator Loki, Marvel's newest internet sensation. Grant, an Oscar-nominated actor, suited up as a Silver Age version of the classic villain for Episode 5 of the Disney+ series, titled "Journey Into Mystery." In addition to delivering a stellar performance as the aging trickster, Grant shared the screen with a sharp-toothed Loki variant that already has its own Funko Pop! figure, enamel pin collection, Etsy-derived plushy, and much more. I'm talking about Alligator Loki, of course, and Grant wants to star in a spin-off starring himself and his cold-blooded cohort.
Recently while speaking with Collider about his career, the MCU, and all things Loki-related, Grant said that a Classic Loki and Alligator Loki series would be a bucket list item for him.
"Classic old Loki with muscles and Alligator-dot-com, the subseries of the sub-sub-sub series. That's what I want," Grant said when asked about franchises he'd like to contribute to.
If fan reaction is any way to take the temperature of a great idea, I think Grant is really onto something with this Loki spin-off idea. Perhaps Marvel can develop a series of animated shorts around the idea? Just Classic Loki and Alligator Loki making mischief all across the Nine Realms, meddling with timelines wherever they go. I think that could be a lot of fun, and why not throw Kid Loki in there while you're at it?
Would you watch a Classic Loki and Alligator Loki spin-off? Can the world handle that much awesomeness in one singular package? I think Disney should open a writer's room up for the idea and find out.
The final episode of Marvel Studios' Loki airs this Wednesday exclusively on Disney+.
