Blindspotting star Rafael Casal is joining the cast of Marvel‘s Loki Season 2 for a major role. A Marvel rep refused to comment about Casal joining the series, but a photo of the actor on the show’s set has leaked online. In the image, Casal is wearing a Variant jumpsuit while walking alongside Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson). Details about Casal’s character are under wraps. However, fans have already started speculating that he could be playing Brad Wolfe, aka Zaniac.

Created by Doug Moench and Keith Pollard, Zaniac’s first appearance was in Thor #319 (1982). According to Comic Vine, Brad Wolfe was a typical human, save for harboring misogynistic attitudes and views. Such feelings had developed due to abuse he had received from his mother at an early age. Hating her, he irrationally projected these feelings toward all women. As an actor, one of the roles he starred in was as a serial killer in a slasher movie. He was the Zaniac. At some point in his life, Wolfe was possessed by a mystical creature created by the dark being Dormammu centuries earlier. This creature would simulate and amplify a type of blood lust in its host, and it especially liked to prey on misogynists. The English serial killer known by some as Jack the Ripper, who terrorized White Chapel in the 1880s, was the first of many inhabited by this creature. After an explosion near a toxic area, Brad Wolfe mutated into a hulking mass, and his psychotic mind made him believe he was Zaniac.
Again, Casal’s role is not confirmed. Who doesn’t love a good bit of speculation, eh?
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are co-directing several episodes of Loki Season 2. Hiddleston and Michael Waldron, who wrote and served as showrunner in Season 1, executive produce. Eric Martin is writing all six episodes.
In addition to his role opposite Daveed Diggs in the TV series Blindspotting, Casal also played John Cook in the TV mini-series The Good Lord Bird. Loki Season 2 continues the misadventures of Marvel’s villain turned anti-hero Loki Laufeyson. At the end of the first season, Loki contributed to breaking the timestream, which resulted in chaos spreading throughout the MCU. Plot details for the new season have yet to be revealed.
