The God of Mischief has returned. Only this time, he has the mischief thrust upon him. And he returns and returns and returns again, as Loki gets pulled through time at random intervals beyond his control. Marvel Studios has been exploring the more cosmic parts and psychedelic concepts of their universe after concluding the Infinity Saga with Phases 4 and 5. Loki season 2 continues the theme of multiverse jumping, and Kang the Conqueror, or He Who Remains, looks to be pulling the strings. Disney+ has just released the new trailer for the follow-up to its successful first-season. The show is set to stream later this fall.
According to Deadline, season 2 of Loki will be picking up “in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.”
The post-credits sequence of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania showcased a variant of Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors, who has had an eventful year on both sides of the spectrum, putting on a Tesla-esque show in an early 1900s-era setting. The scene looked to serve as a teaser for this season, as it shows the series expanding on that moment.
Tom Hiddleston returns in his eighth appearance in the role, counting Marvel’s What If? voice work. He is joined this season by Sophia Di Martino, as well as Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, Ke Huy Quan and Owen Wilson.
Eric Martin is the head writer of the Marvel Studio series with Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw, Kasra Farahani serving as directors. Executive producers of the show include Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Kevin R. Wright, Tom Hiddleston, Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Eric Martin and Michael Waldron.
Loki season 2 premieres on Disney+ on October 6.
