Loki: New trailer strips the God of Mischief of his dignity

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

With WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier now behind us, the next Marvel series to debut on Disney+ will be Loki, a six-episode series which finds Tom Hiddleston reprising his role of the God of Mischief. The upcoming series will follow the Loki who stole the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame as he's imprisoned by the Time Variance Authority and forced to help them fix damaged timelines throughout human history. Marvel Studios have released a new trailer for Loki, which features a bunch of new footage from the series. Check that out above!

In addition to Tom Hiddleston, Loki also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. The series has been directed by Kate Herron with Michael Waldron serving as head writer. Hiddleston has previously teased that the show's shapeshifting logo provides a clue as to how the series will explore the character's ever-changing identity "I think that shapeshifting logo might give you an idea that Loki, the show, is about identity, and about integrating the disparate fragments of the many selves that he can be, and perhaps the many selves that we are," Hiddleston said. "I thought it was very exciting because I’ve always found Loki a very complex construct. Who is this character who can wear so many masks, and changes shape, and seems to change his external feeling on a sixpence?"

The official synopsis for Loki:

Marvel Studios’ “Loki” features the God of Mischief as he steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” Tom Hiddleston returns as the title character, joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. Kate Herron directs “Loki,” and Michael Waldron is head writer.

Loki is set to debut on Disney+ on June 9, 2021.
