Marvel shows continue to do well on the Disney+ platform and it looks like the newest addition, Loki is continuing the tradition. According to Samba TV, Loki's Wednesday night premiere scored the highest first-day viewership of all the Marvel shows on Disney+ so far.
Samba TV measures streaming viewership in 3 million terrestrial smart TV households for at least five minutes and they reported that Wednesday night's premiere of Loki drew 890,000 U.S. households. This sets the record as the "largest U.S. premiere-day audience of any of Marvel's Disney+ shows." Samba TV went on to say that "Clearly, the growing number of household tuning in on Day 1 proves that the Marvel Disney+ series are growing in momentum."
Loki's premiere number is pretty far ahead of the premiere episodes of the previous Marvel shows that debuted on Disney+ this year. WandaVision registered 655,000 U.S. households while The Falcon and the Winter Soldier pulled in 759,000 U.S. households. It should be pointed out that Samba TV only measure terrestrial smart TV's so the true viewership number is still unknown and since most streaming platforms are never 100% upfront with their numbers, we may never really know how well these shows are doing but based simply on this figure, I'd say they're making their platforms proud.
Loki stars Tom Hiddleston as the titular God of Mischief and it takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame in which an alternate version of Loki created a new timeline. He is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline. They give Loki a choice: face being erased from existence due to being a "time-variant", or help fix the timeline and stop a greater threat. The series also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, and Tara Strong.
