Logan Noir will be screened at the Alamo Drafthouse with James Mangold Q&A

After months of speculation and hope we finally got word that a black and white version of LOGAN would be hitting theaters on May 16. We now have word that said glorious screening, LOGAN NOIR, will take place at the Alamo Drafthouse and will be followed up with a live Q&A with director James Mangold.

The press release states that the one-night only event will be live streamed across all 26 Drafthouse locations where fans can watch Jackman slice and dice fools in monochrome glory, followed by the Q&A where they can ask Mangold questions via Twitter using #AskAlamo. As well, folks in Los Angeles will also be able to catch the event with American Cinematheque at the Egyptian theater. You can get tickets for the event here if you're lucky enough to live near a Drafthouse, or are considering a serious road trip.

Mangold spoke about discovering how gorgeous the movie looked in monochrome when he shot stills during production with his own camera. Since then he’s wanted to go back and put the movie into the format:

During production of LOGAN I took many black and white photographs and noticed how striking and dramatic our gritty settings and characters appeared in monochrome. The western and noir vibes of the film seemed to shine in the format and there was not a trace of modern comic hero movie sheen. Then, while editing, Fox and I started posting some of the black and white stills online and fans also began to respond enthusiastically, many hoping that they would get a chance to see the finished film in carefully timed, high contrast black and white. Well. Sometimes hope becomes reality.

LOGAN blew fans away with its honest and brutal depiction of the character, and audiences were equally floored with Hugh Jackman’s final performance as Wolverine. The movie has since made over $600 million at the global box office and stands with some of the best reviews of any comic book movie ever. Now people will get a chance to see it on the big screen in a whole new way, and fans that can’t catch it in theaters can expect to see a black and white cut on the Blu-ray release. Aren't we so lucky to be living now?

LOGAN arrives on digital HD on May 16, and goes on Blu-ray May 23.
