Logan Marshall-Green's character in PROMETHEUS didn't fare well, but the actor (pictured above in THE INVITATION) is giving the whole sci-fi thriller thing another try, signing on to star in STEM for writer/director Leigh Whannell.
STEM isĀ
set in a near-future when technology controls nearly all aspects of life and centers on a technophobe (Marshall-Green) who avenges his wife's murder and his own paralysis-causing injury with the help of an experimental computer chip implant called Stem.
The film is being produced by Blumhouse Productions, in association with Goalpost Pictures Australia. This continues the successful working relationship Blumhouse and Whannell established with the INSIDIOUS franchise. The movie will be shot in Melbourne, Australia, which is Whannell's hometown. The director said, "To be shooting this science-fiction film on the streets of my beloved hometown of Melbourne is a dream come true for me."
When STEM was first getting set up back in 2013, the Spierig brothers were attached to direct. The duo doesn't appear to be involved with the project any longer; they're busy working on SAW: LEGACY, the latest installment in the SAW franchise, which Whannell created with James Wan.
