Logan Lerman, Carol Kane, Josh Radnor and more talk Amazon Prime’s Hunters!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It’s nearly impossible to keep up with all the exceptional small screen programming lately. The impressive quality you can find on channels like Amazon Prime is simply astounding. One such series is the upcoming Hunters, starring Al Pacino and Logan Lerman. Recently, I spent a day watching the first five episodes and frankly I was shaken, fascinated, horrified and pretty much blown away by nearly every aspect of this incredible series. Series creator David Weil has collected a group of extraordinary producers, directors and writers to bring audiences one of the most compelling shows on TV.

This fascinating series offers up Wayne Yip, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, Dennie Gordon, Millicent Shelton and Michael Uppendahl directing episodes written by Weil, Nikki Toscano, Mark Bianculli, Eduardo Javier Canto, Ryan Maldonado and David Rosen. And then there is the cast. In addition to Pacino and Lerman, you have Jerrika Hinton, Lena Olin, Saul Rubinek, Carol Kane, Josh Radnor, Greg Austin, Tiffany Boone, Louis Ozawa, Kate Mulvany and Dylan Baker. Together, they’ve given us something utterly powerful, and I cannot wait to finish off the first season. Oh, and don't forget a fellow named Jordan Peele is also one of the amazing executive producers behind it.

Recently, we had the terrific opportunity to speak with this exceptional cast. When it came to Kate Mulvany, Josh Radnor and Saul Rubinek, the trio discussed the incredible writing and the opportunity to take on some seriously dark material. Kate's characters is especially complex, and she opened up about that a bit. And then there was the amazing trio, Carol Kane, Tiffany Boone and Louis Ozawa. For Kane, this is an especially personal story, which was an incentive for her to take on the role. While Ozawa and Boone don't share that history, they discussed the part they play in this intense world. All six actors brings their all to this project. This is simply a brilliant collection of talent, one that can handle the many layers that each script offers.

Next up we spoke to both Greg Austin and Jerrika Hinton. Now, watching Mr. Austin take on the role of Travis Leich and then meeting him in person was very exciting. He made it very clear that the character he plays is the complete opposite of who he is – although it's quite obvious as he's really just a great guy in person. He is absolutely terrifying every single time he’s on screen as Travis. As well, Jerrika is simply perfect as an FBI agent trying to uncover a very messy bit of business. While she has a far more sympathetic role, it's still very layered and intriguing. Which is perhaps one of the many exciting things about the show, there is nothing simple of lazy about this haunting journey.

And finally, I was more than happy to chat once again with the ridiculously talented – as well as one of the most kind individuals you’ll ever meet – Logan Lerman. While he’s certainly given a number of fantastic performances, he’s stunning as a young man dealing with tragedy. He discussed the emotional levels that he went to with the character, and working with a legendary actor like Al Pacino. Even if it had just been these two it would have been pretty great, but this ensemble, as well as everyone else involved, has helped create one of the most mesmerizing shows in recent years. Seriously, wait for that opening sequence!

Make sure you check out the upcoming Hunters, available on Amazon Prime starting this Friday, February 21st. Just be ready for some intense and brutal violence, surprisingly strong humor and fascinating characters aplenty.
