Two astronauts stranded in space trying to survive and get back to Earth. Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity is about as minimalist story wise as a big budget movie gets, and this final trailer expertly sells the look and feel of the movie without diminishing any of the heart-stopping action. Trailers this breath-taking typically give away too much, but fortunately for Gravity it’s more about the full movie theater experience and this trailer is only a small taste. But what an incredibly well put together, tension-filled taste it is.

Our first introduction to Zack Snyder’s Krypton, Hans Zimmer’s booming score, and the insane action of Man of Steel all wrapped up into one of the best-cut trailers of the year. This trailer was so good in fact, I couldn’t help but feel let down with the final product. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed Man of Steel for what it was, but it never reached the level of chills this trailer gave me when it was unleashed.
Having read and loved the short story in High School, it was with trepidation that I approached viewing anything related to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. This first trailer put me at ease though, as it seems to be a fantastic representation of the magic realism involved in the short story. Everything from the look and feel, Ben Stiller’s obvious commitment to the character and story, and the use of “Dirty Paws” by Of Monsters and Men to tie it all together put any worry I had at bay.
The teaser trailer for The Conjuring is terrifying in its simplicity. Essentially a shorter cut of the “Clap Game” scene in the movie, this teaser exudes atmosphere and tension, and acts as the perfect introduction to one of the scariest movies in recent memory. It is also the first trailer I have ever seen that was genuinely frightening and left me begging for more.
What can I say? The Grand Budapest Hotel looks to be pure, unadulterated Wes Anderson. That alone puts this in my top five most anticipated movies of 2014. I can’t watch this trailer without having a giant shit eating grin on my face from the first frame to the last.

David O. Russell once again leads an incredible cast in his latest, American Hustle. This trailer impeccably showcases the cast and look of the film in a montage to Led Zepplin’s “Good Times, Bad Times” without giving away any plot.
There was no doubt in my mind that the final chapter in Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy would be anything but incredibly fun. This first look at The World’s End amped my excitement to 11, and as it turned out, didn’t even scratch the surface of how exceptional the final product was. Now let’s boo-boo!
After spending two years hearing rave reviews coming out of TIFF and other film festivals, You’re Next FINALLY got a bad-ass trailer and a well deserved wide release. The juxtaposition of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” against the terrorization of the Davison family, along with the pacing and slick editing of this trailer solidified You’re Next as my most anticipated horror movie of 2013.
Another collaboration between Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio? As if anybody had any doubt this movie would look like anything but an incredible ride, this first trailer solidified The Wolf of Wall Street as one of the “Can’t Miss” movies of 2013.

Written and Directed by the Coen Brothers, Inside Llewyn Davis takes place in 1961 following Llewyn Davis throug the Greenwich Village folk scene. With an amazing cast and music written by Mumford & Sons, this trailer showcases the best of what make the Coen Brothers masterful filmmakers.
The most balls-to-the wall, action packed trailer of the year for what turned out to be the surprise hit of the summer. How the hell do these movies keep getting better and better?
