Joe Carnahan’s latest film was unceremoniously dumped from a theatrical run but debuted recently on demand with a cast of zany characters including this memorable scene featuring David Hasselhoff. The Hoff has played variations of himself in several films, but this new one takes it to a very dark and one extremely memorable place.

There is really no way to tell this brief cameo is Bill Murray unless you listen very closely, but it is a funny little gag in an otherwise disappointing movie. It also makes you wonder if Bill Murray could have played Walter White in an alternate version of BREAKING BAD.
After the emotional rollercoaster that was DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, it was really something to see the return of Cyclops and Jean Grey as played by James Marsden and Famke Janssen. The fan favorite characters were killed off in the awful X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, but now time has been reset and they are alive and happy.
Christopher Nolan’s latest film made no mention of Matt Damon on the posters or in the trailers, so many were surprised by his critical role as Dr. Mann. A great role from Damon, but not his best cameo this year. Damon reunited with his BROTHERS GRIMM director, Terry Gilliam, for the role of Management in THE ZERO THEOREM. Damon’s bleached hair and zebra suit was one of his most out of character roles in a long time.
This cameo was a perfect surprise ruined by it’s inclusion in the TV spots and trailers for A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST, but it was still an amazing treat to see Christopher Lloyd return to one of his most iconic roles. Pay no attention, it is just a weather experiment!

21 JUMP STREET had the big appearance from Johnny Depp, so 22 JUMP STREET needed to go with the original TV series’ second biggest star. Richard Grieco has not aged well, but his brief appearance in the film is pretty well done.
Muppets movies typically have dozens of cameos and I could have selected Tom Hiddleston’s from MUPPETS MOST WANTED, but seeing Christoph Waltz actually waltzing with Sweetums was too cool.
One of the most fun movies of the year was crammed with all sorts of LEGO characters, but seeing the Millennium Falcon arrive was pretty sweet. While Harrison Ford didn’t partake, the great Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels reprised their roles as Lando and C-3PO for the funny little scene with Batman.
Most people probably don’t know that the George Lucas produced bomb HOWARD THE DUCK was actually based on a Marvel comic book, but director James Gunn made sure to include the character in the post-credits scene of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. While folks sat through the credits hoping for an AGE OF ULTRON tease, they instead got to see Howard sipping on a martini and making fun of The Collector.

We will hopefully continue to get Stan Lee cameos as long as the Marvel icon is still kicking and he had three of them this year. Each is a funny little non sequitur but my favorite was his security guard role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER.
