Yeah, I know, I was supposed to pick films that I haven’t seen countless times and that I don’t watch every Halloween, but I couldn’t do it 100%. The 1986 Trick or Treat is a tradition at Casa de Arrow on Halloween, one that I just can’t break! It’s a perfect night topper! A tongue wagging undead rocker, rape by Walk-Man, a rubber monster that pops up at the oddest times, a rocking soundtrack by Fastway, a full on 80’s vibe (big hair included) and a cheesy fun times attitude that never fails to win me over! Oh and Ozzy and Gene Simmons have cameos! ALL GOOD! In my world, no Halloween horror marathon is complete without Trick or Treat!

So by now I’ll be loaded and the Friday the 13th redux should go down smoother than a hooker on Prom Night. I’ve only seen the movie once, in Spanish at that (I was in Spain when it opened) and I have yet to see it again in full. I have the Killer Cut in my collection so I am expecting gorier kills and further display of Julianna Guill in all of her naked, soft-core porn like, perfect melons glory! I have a feeling I will dig it more on this go around!
By this point I will be feeling real good, so what better time to slap on the original Halloween II, a film that I always appreciate more and basically rediscover after each viewing! I usually would have gone with the original or Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, but I’ve seen them both countless times. Halloween II, I saw a lot when I was a younger, but not so much as a poseur adult. If memory serves me right: violent kills, some boobies and a grab by the balls finale in the hospital! Hey! Good times to me!
I know I will be bed ridden the next day with a killer hang-over. So to numb the pain, I will watch the 1988 Fright Night 2. The recent sequel (remake of the remake) made me want to watch this one again (I have zero interest in the recent sequel). If memory serves me right, the flick was fun, Julie Carmen was sexy as a bat out of hell and it manages to retain some of the charm from the original while telling its own story. Also, you can’t go wrong with William Ragsdale and Roddy McDowal returning! I haven’t seen this one too many times, so I am pumped to re-visit it!
Out of John Carpenter’s filmography, this is the one that I have seen the least. I clocked it when it hit the big screen and never saw it after that. I remember thinking it was an average movie at best, with a way cool initial premise and that kind of felt apart pass the halfway mark. Lets see how it holds up today! Another reason I’m picking this sucka is because Michael Pare is in it. I’m set to direct him in my film The Shelter and I have been catching up on his career. So I figured I would keep this one for Halloween, perfect timing!

I was initially going to watch Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 Director’s Cut, but I couldn’t wait till Halloween, and I already watched it (I liked the theatrical cut better for those who care). So I had to find a replacement for it and I chose Halloween H20. I’ve seen the film maybe twice, didn’t care for it both times, thinking it was too commercial and Dawnson’s Creek-ish for my liking. But this Halloween I will give it another shot. Hopefully the 3 or 4 beers I will have in me by then will help me dig it more!
Every Halloween, I usually go with Kevin Tenney’s Night of the Demons (1988), I love that movie to death and know it by heart! But this year I decided to shake shit up a bit and go with Tenney’s other token film Witchboard! I haven’t watched it in eons but do remember that it’s creepy, has stylish shots by Tenney, sports a hot to trot Tawny Kitaen at her lick-able prime and has an oddball chick that says TTFN (ta-ta-for-now). A good way to open up my Halloween horror marathon!
