Lionsgate continues to struggle in finding a replacement for THE HUNGER GAMES. 2016 didn’t provide quite the box office power for the smaller studio but they still managed to gross $664 million thanks to films like BOO! A MADEA HALLOWEEN and THE DIVERGENT SERIES: ALLEGIANT. Towards the end of the year, Lionsgate entered the awards season fray with such contenders as HACKSAW RIDGE and DEEPWATER HORIZON. 2016 looks like it could produce a couple of new franchise starters in POWER RANGERS and MY LITTLE PONY amongst some other intriguing titles.
