We're less than a week out from Fox's broadcast of their TV movie reimagining of the classic musical THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, and I'm surprised at how much they've already shared of the new cast's renditions of those unforgettable songs.
Shared below, we have short lyric video samples of "Time Warp", "Touch-a Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me", and "Sweet Transvestite". Then there are the full songs, audio only, of "Touch Me", "Over at the Frankenstein Place", and "Sweet Transvestite". In a 90 second video, the cast shares their thoughts on "Don't Dream It, Be It". Fox streamed the "Dammit Janet" scene online, that stream was saved as the eighth video. And finally, the entire opening of the movie, with Ivy Levan performing "Science Fiction Double Feature".
Results vary with these new performances, but the cast seems to have done well overall. That cast includes Victoria Justice as Janet, Ryan McCartan as Brad, Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Reeve Carney as Riff Raff, Christina Milian as Magenta, Annaleigh Ashford as Columbia, Ben Vereen as Dr. Scott, Adam Lambert as Eddie, and Tim Curry as the Narrator.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is about
sweethearts Janet Weiss and Brad Majors, played in the movie by Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick, who stumble upon Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s bizarre abode. Frank-N-Furter, a sexually ambiguous flirtatious alien mad-scientist, is holding an annual Transylvanian science convention to showcase the birth of “Rocky Horror” – a fit, attractive man created solely to fulfill Frank’s desires.
Fox's new version was directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega. It's scheduled to hit the airwaves at 8pm EST on Thursday, October 20th.
