Lisa Blount, from Prince of Darkness, dies in home at 53

Halloween may have been all drinks and treats for many people but a dark cloud still looms over the family and fans of Lisa Blount. It’s been reported that Lisa Blount, the star of many films such as THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS, NIGHTFLYERS, DEAD & BURIED, THE HITCHHIKER TV SERIES and many more, has passed away this past weekend.

Lisa Blount died in her home in Little Rock, Arkansas last Wednesday, October 25th. Her mother, Louise Blount, discovered her body that day. “I think that might have been part of the problem when she passed away because when I found her she had a purple look on her neck that looked like blood on the surface,” Louise Blount said. She suspects that the death could have been a result from an illness Lisa Blount had been batting with for 17 years. The illness is a condition similar to multiple sclerosis. The illness is called idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), in which low levels of platelets keep blood from clotting and lead to bleeding and bruising. The cause of death is still unknown but investigators report that there was no foul play.

Aside from her works in horror, Ms. Blount was nominated for a Golden Globe as “new star of the year” of her portrayal of Lynnette Pomeroy. She played the cynical friend of Debra Winger’s character, Paula Pokrifki, in AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN.

Sad news indeed but she will be missed by her fans and relatives. If you’re a fan, what better way to remember a departed actor/actress than to dust off an old VHS copy of their work and enjoy their past performances.
