Good ol' Lionsgate has just picked up North American rights for Hammer's upcoming horror chiller THE QUIET ONES and not only that but they've also announced a release date. Not bad! The supernatural thriller is directed by John Pogue and stars Mad Men's Jared Harris and Sam Claflin. The film is inspired by a professor who uses controversial methods and engages his students in an attempt to raise a poltergeist from negative human energy — sounds like a great idea!
THE QUIET ONES tells the story of an unorthodox professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Based on the theory that paranormal activity is caused by human negative energy, the rogue scientists perform a series of tests on a young patient, pushing her to the edge of sanity. As frightening occurrences begin to take place with shocking and gruesome consequences, the group quickly realizes they have triggered a force more terrifying than they ever could have imagined.
This comes hot on the heels of Warner Bros' deal for Ryan Gosling's upcoming directorial debut HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER. Tobin Armbrust and Simon Oakes will produce with James Gay-Rees, Steven Chester Prince and Ben Holden of The Travelling Picture Show Company.
The film is set for an April 25, 2014 release.
