The legend of notorious murderer and cannibal Alexander “Sawney” Bean has inspired countless films over the years, the most notable being THE HILLS HAVE EYES films. Today we have news of the latest flick headed our way that takes its inspiration from the Sawney Bean tale, Lionsgate’s LORD OF DARKNESS which follows a curious journalist who digs too deep into the past of the legendary serial killer Sawney Bean and finds himself captured with no easy way to escape.
LORD OF DARKNESS is based on the legendary true story of Sawney Bean and his family of cannibalistic serial killers. Intrigued by this legend, a journalist starts printing damaging articles against the family and authorities for their incompetence and gets more than he bargained for when his girlfriend suddenly goes missing. As the clues lead him to the family’s lair, he comes face to face with Sawney and his cannibalistic family. Captured and tied up, with a surgical blade rapidly approaching his body, he’ll take matters in his own hands to ensure he is not the family’s next sacrifice.
LORD OF DARKNESS comes to DVD, Digital Download and Video on Demand June 25 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Starring David Hayman (Sid and Nancy), Sam Feeney (Wounded), Gavin Mitchell (TV’s “Still Game”) and William Houston (Sherlock Holmes), the LORD OF DARKNESS DVD, featuring deleted scenes and outtakes, will be available for the suggested retail price of $26.98.
