Legendary scream queen Linnea Quigley has joined the cast of writer/director Justin Seaman's '80s throwback slasher THE BARN, an announcement that seems odd at first because THE BARN has been completed for quite some time now. There have already been multiple screenings on the festival circuit and the movie is set to hit DVD in October. How could Quigley be joining the fun this late in the game?
Rue Morgue's Michael Gingold got the exclusive on Quigley's casting, and Seaman revealed to him that he has had Quigley in mind for a specific role, that of a woman called Ms. Barnhart, ever since he wrote the script in 2013. Unable to get in contact with Quigley before filming began, Seaman filled the crucial role with a crew member/actress and made the movie.
However, as THE BARN's DVD debut draws near Seaman is starting to think sequel, and Ms. Barnhart is very important for his plans to continue the story. The character would have a much bigger role in THE BARN 2, and since the actress who played her seemingly had no desire to be at the center of a sequel, the role needed to be recast.
Enter Linnea Quigley to save the day, and to save Seaman from having to have two different actresses play Ms. Barnhart in the two movies. Contact was made with her and she not only signed on to play Ms. Barnhart in THE BARN 2, but Seaman also reshot Ms. Barnhart's scenes in THE BARN with Quigley in the role that was always intended for her.
The first screening of THE BARN with Quigely as Ms. Barnhart is scheduled to happen at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival in Miami on August 16th.
THE BARN's synopsis:
Its Halloween 1989, best friends Sam and Josh are trying to enjoy what’s left of their final Devil’s Night before graduating high school. But trouble arises when the two pals and a group of friends take a detour on their way to a rock concert, finding an old abandoned barn and awakening the evil inside. Now it’s up to Sam and Josh to find a way to protect their friends and defeat the creatures that lurk within “The Barn”.
Quigley joins a cast that includes Mitchell Musolino, Will Stout, Lexi Dripps, Cortland Woodard, Nikki Darling, Nickolaus Joshua, Ryan Nogy, David Hampton, FLESHEATER's Richard Billock, and FRIDAY THE 13TH 1980's Ari Lehman.
I was already hyped for THE BARN, and the fact that Quigley is going to be in it makes me even more excited to see the film.
