Lin Shaye says Grudge reboot is the scariest film she’s been a part of

I'm not one for hating on remakes and reboots. In fact, some of the recently rebooted movies have been badass and I'm personally really looking forward to the upcoming onslaught including MGM's CHILD'S PLAY, WRONG TURN, Stephen King's PET SEMATARY, and even John Carpenter's classic BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA set to star The Rock.

But maybe that's just me.

Another reboot we have coming our way soon is writer-director Nicolas Pesce's upcoming reimagining of THE GRUDGE, which is simply going by the clean-cut title GRUDGE. The movie stars Lin Shaye, John Cho, Demian Bichir, and Andrea Riseborough, and is headed our way next August. And if we can believe INSIDIOUS star Lin Shaye (and we can) then today we have word via the actress over on ComicBook.com that this new GRUDGE will be the scariest movie she's ever been a part of.

Lin Shaye:

Wait until you see this. It's the scariest movie I've ever been a part of, not even maybe. Not even maybe. And it's the scariest part I've ever had, bar none. I think it comes out next August, I'm very excited about it. The horror fans are going to go insane, that I can promise.

What will make it really different is Nicolas Pesce, who is the writer/director, who is extraordinary. I mean he's a real visionary. I had a phenomenal time working with him. He was very open to my ideas, which he told me he never is. He said, 'I don't usually let actors do what they want.' He said, 'But in your case, there were no rules.' I was inspired. The ideas I came up with were inspired by what he was creating. And he acknowledged that and allowed it.

Again, Shaye saying this film is the scariest movie she's ever been a part of is substantial considering she's not only starred in the INSIDIOUS flicks, but she also has such classic fright flicks as A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, NEW NIGHTMARE, CRITTERS, THE HIDDEN, DEAD END, 2001 MANIACS, and much more under her belt. Do Shaye's comments make you more excited about this reboot? Let us know below and then mark your calendars as producer Sam Raimi serves up the new film in theaters near you come August 16, 2019.
