With Hugh Jackman's final appearance as Wolverine growing ever closer, there's great hope that the UNTITLED WOLVERINE SEQUEL will, as Hugh Jackman has said, give us the perfect Wolverine film which we've all been waiting for. Jackman has been teasing fans with what they could be in for with this final outing, including "berserker Wolverine" and the return of Victor Creed a.k.a. Sabretooth. Liev Schreiber played the role with great relish in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE and remains one of the very few bright spots in that otherwise forgettable entry in the X-MEN franchise.
Schreiber has previously said that he'd be open to returning to the franchise and those fans that would welcome his return, myself included, will be glad to know that he's actually had conversations with Hugh Jackman about that very thing. MTV News caught up with Liev Schreiber on the red-carpet during last night's Oscars:
We talked about it. I don’t know. I mean, he’s mentioned it to me. The Old Man Logan story, that’s appealing. That’s something that I can do. Old, being the operative word. Old Man Sabretooth.
Hugh Jackman's final Wolverine film, which is said to be drawing from the "Old Man Logan" story, may also follow in DEADPOOL's footsteps as Twentieth Century Fox handed out pamphlets during their Toy Fair 2016 presentation which labeled the films anticipated rating as an R. Before you start getting excited, keep in mind that it's not exactly a sure thing that the UNTITLED WOLVERINE SEQUEL will arrive in theaters with all its blood and guts intact; but even if it does debut with the X-MEN franchises' customary PG-13 rating, I'd imagine that the Blu-ray/DVD release will give us more of the good stuff.
The UNTITLED WOLVERINE SEQUEL is set for a March 3, 2017 release.
