When last we heard about Liam Neeson’s newest potential action project, the script was still titled THE ALL NIGHTER. But now our news is two-fold: firstly, the title has been adjusted to the slightly-more-active RUN ALL NIGHT. And secondly, Neeson has formally, officially, and absolutely signed on to star.
A director is still needed, but Neeson is currently working on orchestrating a third teaming with Juame Collet-Sera (UNKNOWN, the currently-filming NON-STOP). And with enough “special skills” practiced on screen, I imagine Neeson can convince just about anyone to do just about anything at this point.
RUN ALL NIGHT “tells the story of a mob hitman who, in a single night, is forced to take on his former boss. The guy has to protect his son and family, and winds up on the run from the mob and the authorities with his estranged son.” With the star locked and few potential projects on the horizon, and with Neeson being in contact with Serra most every day, I should think we’ll hear about new developments on RUN ALL NIGHT soon.
On a personal note…
This article actually marks my final one for JoBlo. For those of you counting (which may toe the line somewhere between flattering and creepy), today actually marks one year and one day since I was first hired in those early weeks of 2012. It’s a milestone that I’m most proud of, as I can’t imagine a more passionate film community to which I would rather have belonged, and so it is with great regret that I take my leave.
You’ve all been more than generous, through UnPopular Opinions and impassioned CLOUD ATLAS/DARK KNIGHT RISES praise and everything else, and I’ve learned more than I care to share. So I won’t. Also to stop this from getting too sentimental. Really, the point of all this is: thanks.
I wish I could say “I’ll never let go, [JoBlo],“ but the truth is probably closer something I’m going to have to borrow from Jason Pollock over at Chud (and then add to, of course): “Time is a predator, and it stalks us all our lives. I say quit running. Cover yourself in mud, light a torch, and fistfight that ugly motherf**ker [for every extra second you can to see, make, share, or save another film. That’s what it’s all about, and that’s all you can do].“
Because if film fans like us don’t do it – who will?
