Liam Neeson has experienced a new level of stardom thanks to his ability to punch people and look like a badass doing it. But it’s easy to forget that, under the aged, grizzled, tough guy exterior is an incredible actor able to deliver subtle, dramatic and impeccable work. His newest role will allow him to do that, and puts him in the shoes of one of the most iconic whistleblowers in modern history – Mark Felt a.k.a “Deep Throat” – the man who delivered White House secrets to the Washington Post. That information was then used to report the famous Watergate scandal to the public, which caused Richard Nixon to resign the presidency. Now it’s time for Felt's story to hit the big screen, and you can get a glimpse in the first trailer for MARK FELT: THE MAN WHO BROUGHT DOWN THE WHITE HOUSE above. A long title, yes, but you can't exactly call it DEEP THROAT.
We’ve heard the story of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein before in ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN, but Felt’s story has stayed in the shadows, not having the same level of exposure as Woodward and Bernstein. This film is a great opportunity to get into the mindset of a man who decided to take action into his own hands when the FBI refused to expose the White House’s scheme’s, and in the process finding himself in the history books. Neeson is a terrific actor, so I will happily watch him here. As should you, or else risk Neeson coming to you house and making you watch.
MARK FELT also stars Diane Lane, Michael C. Hall, Josh Lucas, Maika Monroe, Tom Sizemore, Ike Barinholtz and more, and arrives September 29 and will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
