Liam Neeson in talks to join Viola Davis in Steve McQueen’s Widows

The cast of Steve McQueen's first feature since 12 YEARS A SLAVE is quickly coming together and Variety reports that Liam Neeson (SILENCE) is currently in talks to join up as the husband of Viola Davis' character.

WIDOWS is based on the 1983 British mini-series of the same name and has been penned by GONE GIRL author Gillian Flynn. The film centers on "the aftermath of four armed robbers killed during a failed heist, and their surviving widows join forces and resolve to pull off the raid themselves." I suppose we shouldn't get too attached to Liam Neeson's character. Should Neeson finalize his deal, he would join Viola Davis (FENCES), Michelle Rodriguez (THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS), André Holland (MOONLIGHT), Cynthia Erivo (Mr Selfridge), Elizabeth Debicki (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2) and Daniel Kaluuya (GET OUT) in the film.

Liam Neeson has no shortage of projects already on the way, including Peter Landesman's FELT, in which he plays Mark Felt, the man better known as Deep Throat during the Watergate scandal, and Jaume Collet-Serra's THE COMMUTER, where he plays an insurance salesman who is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop. Thankfully, as much as we enjoy watching Liam Neeson kick some butt, there are no plans in place for a fourth TAKEN film.
