Ryan Reynolds easily won the day in DEADPOOL, but the supporting cast fleshed out the film with equal hilarity, especially T.J. Miller as his chum, Weasel. But another scene stealing performance came from the Leslie Uggams, who played Blind Al in the film and who has confirmed she will be indeed returning for DEADPOOL 2.
While speaking with Black Film about her role in the upcoming HBO film, THE IMMORTAL LIFE OF HENRIETTA LACKS, Uggams was asked if she will be coming back for the sequel, and replied with a simple, “Definitely.”
In order to find shelter from his debauchery and killings, Wade Wilson/Deadpool had to shack-up with a roommate, Blind Al, the result being the ultimate “odd couple” scenario. Equally as profane as Pool, Al was as stubborn as a blind mule, and also packed plenty of heat. She isn't the only returning cast member, with Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic and Karan Soni all returning as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Colossus and Dopinder respectively.
Uggams easily held her own against Reynolds, delivering blunt quips to match his goofball snark. Though he got back together with his lady love (Morena Baccarin) at the end of the film and is possibly living with her again, I can imagine the filmmakers will still have a place for the blind character down the road. There’s still plenty IKEA furniture to bicker about.
