Director Nick Cassevetes, best known in these circles as the bald bad guy from FACE/OFF and as the director of THE NOTEBOOK in others, is gearing up to direct THE OTHER WOMAN, not to be confused with the other THE OTHER WOMAN from 2009 starring Natalie Portman. You get all that? The film already has Cameron Diaz attached, but is negotiating Leslie Mann (THIS IS 40) and Jamie Lannister himself, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who is best known for his role in HBO’s Game of Thrones as the scheming Kingslayer.
The comedy is described as:
A woman (Diaz) finds out that she is “the other woman” in an affair. She teams up with the wife (Mann) to get revenge on the cheating cad of a husband (Coster-Waldau).
Sounds pretty conventional, I suppose, but I like the creative dynamic here. There’s certainly potential for a good comedy in here, depending on where they take it. Mann has had great success in the comedy market of late, with hits like KNOCKED UP and THIS IS 40, while Diaz has made a career of it. THE OTHER WOMAN is set to go before cameras this Spring/Summer in New York.
Mann will next be seen in THE BLING RING, while Diaz will pull a villainous role in Ridley Scott‘s THE COUNSELOR in November. Coster-Waldau will grace the big screen in Tom Cruise‘s OBLIVION next month and return to the small screen with HBO’s Game of Thrones on March 31, 2013.
