We all have had friends that try to make us watch movies or TV shows they are hyped about and sometimes the end result is a mere shrug of the shoulders. In the case of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, this happened when DiCaprio forced Jonah Hill to watch The Mandalorian, and Hill was simply unimpressed.
Hill spoke with W Magazine and revealed that he often doesn’t watch science-fiction films and television series because, as he puts it, “I used to have a rule: If it didn’t happen or it couldn’t happen, then I just wasn’t interested, because I would lose focus.” When DiCaprio and Hill were making Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up, DiCaprio got Hill to break his rule by making him watch The Mandalorian and Hill just didn’t see what all the hype was all about:
“Leo made me watch ‘The Mandalorian’ when we were making ‘Don’t Look Up,’ and it was like, Baby Yoda was so cute, but I just didn’t give a f*ck because I didn’t know anything that it was about.”
As it turns out, Hill is more into fantasy because he recently joined the masses by falling in love with Game of Thrones:
“Game of Thrones’ is so sick. I know this is hilarious, because I’m in 2022. I’m just watching three episodes at a time, like you would binge any show. But I forget this happened in real time and was like a cultural event. So I watched the Red Wedding, as one of three episodes I watched that night. I’m calling friends, like, ‘Oh my god, Robb Stark got killed, blah, blah, blah.’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah, dude. It was like the end-of-‘Sopranos’-level cultural event.”
Perhaps Hill should try to get DiCaprio hooked on Game of Thrones?
