After passing through the hands of directors Alexandre Aja and Joe Carnahan, an adaptation of Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman's vampire graphic novel UNDYING LOVE may finally be coming to us from the team of David Leitch and Tommy Wirkola.
Leitch, who co-directed JOHN WICK before moving on to ATOMIC BLONDE, DEADPOOL 2, and the upcoming FAST & FURIOUS spin-off HOBBS & SHAW, is in talks to direct the film from a screenplay from Wirkola, whose previous credits include DEAD SNOW, DEAD SNOW 2, and HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS.
The story of the graphic novel centers on
an ex-soldier who falls in love with a vampire, but in order to be with her he must take on her creator, who is protected by an army of monsters in the Hong Kong underworld.
I'm not familiar with the graphic novel, but that sounds like a very cool story to me, and I would love to see Leitch make a movie about a man fighting his way through an army of monsters in Hong Kong.
UNDYING LOVE is set up at Jeff Robinov's Studio 8 and is being produced by Kelly McCormick and Stephen L'Heureux, with Robinov serving as executive producer.
The plan is for this one to be filming by the end of the year.
