I don't know about you but I love a good TV spot. Usually, these are the prime places where a studio will throw every cool thing a flick contains up on the screen in a last-ditch effort to get the viewers of Roseanne to tune into theaters once the film in question hits. While TV spots can thus be filled with spoilers, today's new spot for Blumhouse and writer-director Leigh Whannell's (SAW, INSIDIOUS) new body-horror sci-fi flick UPGRADE has no such issue.
This spot (which you can check out in all its glory below) is pure violent 80's style action complete with some wild and awesomely over-the-top camera movements. To put it simply, the TV spot is fun wall-to-wall. Mostly I'm getting a real vibe of Richard Stanley's classic HARDWARE from all the promotional materials we have seen from UPGRADE thus far (once called STEM) and I can't wait to see Whannell helm a full-on action picture.
UPGRADE stars Logan Marshall-Green (PROMETHEUS) and Betty Gabriel (GET OUT) in:
A sci-fi thriller set in a near-future when technology controls nearly all aspects of life and centers on a technophobe who avenges his wife's murder and his own paralysis-causing injury with the help of an experimental computer-chip implant called Stem.
The film hits theaters June 1st. Watch the new TV Spot now and enjoy!
