Legendary producer Dino De Laurentiis dies at 91

Very unfortunate news this morning. Agostino De Laurentiis  AKA Dino De Laurentiis, has passed away in Los Angeles. Mr. Laurentiis was a force not to be reckoned with in Hollywood as his influence has touched many iconic films.

The Italian filmmaker died in his Beverly Hills home yesterday. His daughter Raffaella De Laurentiis commented that his family was with him as he passed away. She did not include what was the cause of death.

Mr. Laurentiis was a film impressario and producer films which include SERPICO, DEATH WISH, KING KONG, ORCA, AMITYVILLE II: THE POSSESSION, AMITYVILLE 3-D, DEAD ZONE, CONAN THE BARBARIAN, CONAN THE DESTROYER, FIRESTARTER, DUNE, MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE, RAW DEAL, SILVER BULLET, CAT’S EYE, YEAR OF THE DRAGON, RED SONJA, BLUE VELVET, MANHUNTER, KING KONG LIVES, DESPERATE HOURS, ARMY OF DARKNESS and ASSASSINS. Any fan from any of these sample of films can understsand the iconic value behind them.

Mr. De Laurentiis was part of the legendary Italian New Wave Filmmamking movement. His own personal works includes BITTER RICE, LA STRADA and BARBARELLA. He was 91 when he passed away.
