As revealed in an Instagram selfie posted by franchise heroine Milla Jovovich, Korean actor Lee Joon-gi is part of the cast of RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER, which is currently filming on location in Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa.
The film marks Lee's Hollywood debut and has the following synopsis:
Picking up immediately after the events in “Resident Evil: Retribution,” “Final Chapter” finds humanity is on its last legs and Alice (Jovovich) must return to Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is preparing for a final strike against the survivors of the apocalypse.
In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.
Given that Lee is playing Commander Lee of the Umbrella Corporation, one would assume that his character is a villain.
In addition to Jovovich and Lee, THE FINAL CHAPTER's cast includes Ali Larter, Iain Glen, Shawn Roberts, Ruby Rose, Eoin Macken, William Levy, Fraser James, and Rola.
Jovovich's selfie with Lee is just one of several images that have been posted to Instagram by cast members, who appear to be having a blast making this movie.
Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER is set to reach theatres on January 17, 2017.
