Given the state of the world right now, you'd be forgiven for forgetting, as I did, that another SPACE JAM movie has been in the works for quite some time. The long-belated sequel is slated to star NBA superstar LeBron James, who unveiled our first look at the logo of SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY on a cap. You can check that out below, as well as a non-cap version of the logo.
"The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie," said James in September 2018. "It's so much bigger. I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams." I haven't watched the original SPACE JAM since I was a kid, but I do recall enjoying it. Although I was never one of those people who has been holding out hope for a sequel all these years, I'm not about to complain about getting to see Bugs Bunny back on the big-screen. In addition to LeBron James, SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY also stars Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery) and Don Cheadle, who is rumoured to be playing the film's villain.
SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY is slated to hit theaters on July 16, 2021.
