In the picture Rob Zombie used to announce the casting of 1970s icon Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (best known for playing Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington on WELCOME BACK, KOTTER) in his latest film 31, Hilton-Jacobs' character Panda Thomas is seen clean and well-coiffed. That doesn't represent how things turn out for him in the movie, as Zombie revealed in a new image posted to his Facebook page and the 31 Twitter account.
31 tells the story of
five random people kidnapped on the five days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped inside this man-made Hell they must fight to survive playing the most violent game known to man… a game called 31.
Zombie has said that Panda Thomas is
the manager of a traveling roadshow known as "The Venus Lux Happy Time Fun Show". Unfortunately the fun stops as soon as he enters Murder World.
The fun has certainly stopped for him by the moment captured in the new picture, but the image does hold the promise that the movie will be a fun viewing experience for me. Not only will I enjoy seeing Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington having to deal with whatever horrors Zombie has in store for him, but the man is also holding a chainsaw! I have long held the belief that the inclusion of chainsaw action instantly boosts the cool factor of any movie it's included in, at least during the time when the saw is running, a belief stirred up by a crazy amount of viewings of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and EVIL DEAD movies. If 31 is going to show Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs using a chainsaw to defend himself from killer clowns and other assorted maniacs, let me see this movie right now!
