The first trailer for the highly-anticipated, new HALLOWEEN movie drops on Friday, which is only two days away! However, if you just can’t wait that long we have your Michael Myers fix right here with some new images from the movie (via USA Today). Yes, Michael Myers (Nick Castle) still looks as imposing as ever, but this time around Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) will be ready to fight back.
Set forty years after the events of the first film, Strode has been training and preparing for the inevitable return of Myers, and when he does come back, those around her will looking to her for protection.
“She was running for her life [in the first movie],” says Curtis. “In this case, she is well-matched, she is prepared, she is focused. She will be the one people are standing behind when that moment comes, because she’s the one ready.”
Check out Laurie in the middle of a slight conflict with Myers below, as well as the villain himself.
Director David Gordon Green is directing the movie from a script by himself, Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley, and he spoke about Myers as a villain. While exploring in more depth may seem like a choice some directors would take for a modern take, Green says its all about making sure he stays the terrifying, simple killer he is. “He’s the essence of evil, so we don’t want to get too much into the specifics of what makes him tick. So much of what makes the boogeyman horrifying to me is the mystery and almost cat-like mannerisms and curiosity of this character.”
Like a doomsday prepper, Strode prophesizing of Myers’ return starts to come off as annoying to her neighbors, and Curtis says, “It becomes a little bit ‘The British are coming!’ and everybody just gets tired of it. It’s the girl who cried Michael, and they’re all like, ‘Oh, my God, Laurie, shut the (expletive) up.’ And that’s why I like where we find her.”
HALLOWEEN arrives October 19.
