If iconic slasher Michael Myers was on my trail, I would be pretty upset about it, much like Judy Greer's character Karen appears to be in the latest image from director David Gordon Green's upcoming HALLOWEEN sequel. But unlike Karen, I wouldn't have her mother Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) around to comfort me, so I think Karen has a better chance of making it through this situation than I would.
I also wouldn't be wearing a Christmas sweater on Halloween like Karen is.
Entertainment Weekly hosted the exclusive unveiling of this new image, which can be seen below, pairing it with a quote from returning heroine Curtis where she says,
The first movie I was running more, and in this movie I’m hunting more. [You] watch this woman take back the narrative of her life."
Directed by Green from a screenplay he wrote with Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley, this new HALLOWEEN only acknowledges the events of John Carpenter's 1978 original HALLOWEEN. In this sequel,
Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Curtis and Greer are joined in the cast by Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson; Miles Robbins, Virginia Gardner, Dylan Arnold, and Drew Scheid as Allyson's Haddonfield High classmates; Will Patton and Rob Niter as police officers; Rhian Rees as a character named Dana; and Diva Tyler as a caretaker. Original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle and stuntman James Jude Courtney both wore the mask of the iconic slasher this time around.
This HALLOWEEN is a Blumhouse Production. Carpenter served as executive producer on it and is composing the score with Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. For a moment it looked like the new theme had been released online today, but it has since disappeared… Mysterious…
The original Michael Myers will return to the big screen when HALLOWEEN is released on October 19th.
