Original JURASSIC PARK stars Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern are all signed on to return to the franchise in director Colin Trevorrow's upcoming JURASSIC WORLD 3 (not the official title, that's just what we're calling it for now), and Trevorrow has said their appearances will be more than just cameos. He describes their presence in the new film as "major roles".
JURASSIC WORLD 3 is heading toward a June 11, 2021 release date, and in a recent interview with the folks at IMDb Dern said she is "really excited at the idea, they're working away in the land of what the story will be."
Of course, she couldn't give away any story details, but she did say she is excited to be reprising the role of Ellie Sattler, a character she also played (briefly) in JURASSIC PARK 3.
I love Ellie Sattler and I have grown up with her alongside me. (There are) so many children, and particularly young women, who idolized and felt she was sort of one of their first feminist, badass action characters. I love the idea of seeing where she is now."
Dern is also hyped to work with Neill and Goldblum again, as well as Trevorrow, executive producer Steven Spielberg, and producer Frank Marshall.
Neill, Dern, and Goldblum's co-stars in the new sequel will include JURASSIC WORLD stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard; Daniella Pineda and Justice Smith, whose characters were introduced in JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM; and franchise newcomers Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise.
Trevorrow is writing the screenplay with Emily Carmichael, working from a story he crafted with his JURASSIC WORLD and FALLEN KINGDOM co-writer Derek Connolly.
