Latest trailer for Cobra Kai’s second season teases two Dojo’s & one fight

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Taking place 34 years after THE KARATE KID, YouTube's Cobra Kai followed a down-and-out Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) as he sought redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo, which reignited his rivalry with a now successful Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). I wasn't expecting much out of Cobra Kai, so it came as quite the surprise when the series revealed itself to be incredibly fun. It also wound up being critically-acclaimed, even scoring 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, which made it a no-brainer for YouTube to bring the series back for a second season.

With Cobra Kai back on top, the second season will find Daniel opening his own official dojo, Miyagi-do, in order to stand against Cobra Kai, however, it might not be quite as easy as Daniel thinks it will be. "As we saw in season one with Johnny, it’s not always easy to fill your dojo with students and make an immediate success of it in the valley," executive producer Josh Heald told Entertainment Weekly. "And with those growing pains comes more rivalry." Heald also spoke about where the new season will take Johnny and Daniel's rivalry. "Johnny and Daniel are very complicated characters and they are like oil and water at times, and they’re like peanut butter and jelly at other times," Heald said. "And it’s those moments where they can come together and do come together in the series that are really fun for us to write and witness also, because their camaraderie — both in real life and between these characters in that they have so much shared history, both good and bad — but this rivalry runs deep and I think there’s probably a long road ahead before they can be reconciled."

The official synopsis for the second season of Cobra Kai:

Cobra Kai may have won the battle, but the war has just begun. Watch Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso pick up where they left off in Season 1, and train a new generation in the way of karate. But will their past get in the way of what truly matters?

The second season of Cobra Kai will debut on YouTube on April 24th.
