Last month, we got our hands on a trailer for Edgar Wright‘s Last Night in Soho that claimed to be the “final trailer” for the film, which is set to reach theatres on October 29th. As it turns out, the “final trailer” description was about as accurate as the “Final Chapter” subtitle on the fourth Friday the 13th movie. Now a new final trailer for Last Night in Soho has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.
Wright’s previous credits include Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Baby Driver, and the Grindhouse faux trailer Don’t. While his movies tend to lean toward the comedic, he has described this one as a “straight-up psychological horror thriller”, inspired by the likes of Don’t Look Now and Repulsion. Scripted by Wright and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, Last Night in Soho stars Thomasin McKenzie and Anya Taylor-Joy as characters named Eloise and Sandie. The film centers on
a young girl, passionate in fashion design, who is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it appears, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences…
Much of the story takes place in
the London of the Swinging Sixties; a time period with which Eloise is obsessed and, through a mysterious connection with Sandie, gets to experience.
McKenzie and Taylor-Joy are joined in the cast by Matt Smith, Michael Ajao, Synnøve Karlsen, Diana Rigg, Terence Stamp, Rita Tushingham, and Margaret Nolan. Sadly, both Rigg and Nolan passed away in 2020, so Last Night in Soho marks the last film appearances for both of them.
Wright also produced Last Night in Soho with Nira Park and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. You can read our review of the film at THIS LINK.
