Stifler is back on the hunt for women. Deadline is reporting that the American Pie star is set to star in a new romantic comedy from Luke Greenfield titled The Last Bachelor. The rom-com will be brought to us by XYZ Films. Greenfield will also be producing the script he co-wrote with Jason Benoit. It is set to be introduced to buyers at the Cannes market and is billed as a “big romantic comedy in the tone of Judd Apatow and Jerry Maguire.”

The synopsis for The Last Bachelor reads,
“After realizing all his friends have settled down and gotten married, Tommy Kriffman (Seann William Scott) goes from never wanting to get married to becoming obsessed with finding his wife and having a family ASAP. But when he falls in love with a stunning, younger woman, Dylan, who – like the old Tommy – isn’t ready to settle down, a hilarious gender reversal begins. Now Tommy is pressuring her to settle down, much like a woman does with a ticking biological clock, and Dylan is the stereotypical guy, avoiding commitment at all costs.”

The director shares his enthusiasm for this project and why it’s deeply personal to him, “It’s crazy, this film has always been a passion project of mine, but now weirdly enough, it’s become more of an autobiography. And that’s not a good thing! Now I know first-hand what this character is going through. And sure, it’s hilarious, but this story is definitely honest and real, and it’s going to hit home emotionally to a lot of people.”

Greenfield is no stranger to romantic comedies, having directed films like The Girl Next Door and Something Borrowed. He has also worked with Scott previously as a producer on the David Wain film, Role Models, co-starring Paul Rudd. He is also on deck to direct a Netflix comedy called Rock the Boat which he also co-wrote and will be starring Rebel Wilson and Leslie Mann.

Seann William Scott recently had a couple of stints on television when he replaced Clayne Crawford on the television version of Lethal Weapon and currently stars in the Fox mockumentary sitcom, Welcome to Flatch, which is executive produced by Paul Feig. Scott can also be seen recently in the horror-action film, The Wrath of Becky.
