Larry David is game for more Curb Your Enthusiasm and he confirmed during a TV Academy event at the DGA, via Deadline, that the HBO comedy will be returning for season 12.
David was also asked if he is open to more seasons beyond season 12 and he responded in the affirmative. This is something that will make fans of the long-running HBO series happy as it continues to be one of the best comedies airing on cable, network, or otherwise.
New seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm seem to come about when Larry David’s schedule permits. Back in February, HBO and HBO Max Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys was asked about the series and he said, “As usual, if [Larry] has an area that he is excited about, we’ll do more. I imagine he will.”
Curb Your Enthusiasm premiered in October of 2000 and it was created by Larry David, who headlines the series as a semi-fictionalized version of himself. David is a semi-retired television writer and producer in Los Angeles (with one season in New York City) and he’s joined on the series by Cheryl Hines, who plays his wife, Jeff Garlin as his manager and best friend Jeff Greene, and Susie Essman, as Jeff’s wife. The series has received high critical acclaim over the years and continues to grow in popularity since premiering in 2000. The show has been nominated for 47 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series for nine of its ten seasons. Curb Your Enthusiasm won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy back in 2002.
