Lara Croft’s tomb being raided; GK Films rebooting Tomb Raider

We’ve heard rumblings about this possibility for some time now, so it’s not coming as a complete surprise; still, here it is, all official now: Lara Croft is coming back to the big screen.

Graham King Films (THE DEPARTED, RANGO) will be at the helm of the new TOMB RAIDER film, due to hit theaters sometime in 2013. There’s no writer or director attached yet, nor is there a lady to fill Lara’s boots. (As this is described as a “reboot”, Angelina Jolie will not reprise her role.)

In a pre-emptive strike, GK Films has come on board to acquire the feature film rights to TOMB RAIDER and will reboot the successful action-adventure franchise aiming for a 2013 release for the first film.

Produced by Graham King and Tim Headington, the films will create daring new adventures for the young and dynamic Lara Croft.

“We are very excited to be rebooting what is already a hugely successful film franchise and continuing the TOMB RAIDER phenomenon,” said King.

Besides, if she dresses like Angelina’s Lara, why should we even complain?
