Marvel fans seem to still be in mourning two years after the tragic events of Avengers: Endgame which saw Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark aka Iron Man sacrificing himself to defeat Thanos and save the world. Here, in my sweet home of Los Angeles, a billboard has gone up calling for Marvel Studios to bring Tony Stark back to life. The fictional incident obviously still isn't sitting well with Marvel fans who have extra spending money to erect a billboard.
The image of the billboard was posted by Lights, Camera, Pod on Twitter. The billboard reads "For our beloved hero, please bring back Tony Stark" while Marvel-like imagery makes up the visuals for the billboard. The hashtag "BringBackTonyStarkToLife" can be seen on the bottom with the date of April 24, 2021. The idea seems to be to get the hashtag to trend on the 24th and given the fact that #ReleaseTheSnyderCut did so well, Marvel fans may think they have some power here to make things happen. The reaction to the billboard has been a bit mixed. Some fans are all for a Tony Stark return while others are calling out desperate fanboys for seemingly wasting their money. Some fans are just having fun with the billboard and making a joke out of the whole situation. When these things happen I always wonder who actually put up the money to make this happen and why? I suppose we all have a little fun with some of this stuff but it also seems to add to the fanboy stigma of when fans don't get their way or they want to change the narrative of a story, they go to great lengths to attempt to make it happen. Btw, perhaps the best response to this billboard comes from Chrissy Teigen. The model and media personality has a bit of fun pointing out the awkward sentence structure of the hashtag:
