Kyle Gallner: Scream 5 script has the same kind of magic the first film had

The latest film in the SCREAM franchise – which should be titled SCREAM 5, but might simply be going by the title SCREAM – is deep into production in Wilmington, North Carolina, and one of the cast members is Kyle Gallner, a genre regular whose previous credits include RED (the Lucky McKee one), THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT, JENNIFER'S BODY, the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake, RED STATE, and The Walking Dead.

While taking a break from the SCREAM 5 set, Gallner did some press for his new film DINNER IN AMERICA, and during an interview with Collider he was asked what he would say to SCREAM fans might be worried about the new sequel. His reponse was,

What I found really, really cool about the script is there’s a lot of that kind of magic that the first one had, which is really cool. I think the people who love the original are gonna really dig this."

Hopefully that magic will translate to the screen, because I have high hopes for SCREAM 5. There has only been one SCREAM movie so far that I would say I don't like, and I'm excited that this one is being directed by READY OR NOT's Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (you can watch READY OR NOT at THIS LINK).

Gallner also praised the cast that has been assembled for SCREAM 5. His co-stars include franchise stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox, SCREAM 4 cast member Marley Shelton, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, Dylan Minnette, Jack Quaid, Mikey Madison, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.

The new SCREAM was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Vanderbilt is also producing the film for Project X Entertainment, alongside Paul Neinstein and William Sherak. Chad Villella and Kevin Williamson serve as executive producers.

Paramount and Spyglass are planning to get the new SCREAM into theatres on January 14, 2022.
