Kurtwood Smith will try to censor Hitch in Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho

Clarence Boddicker himself, Kurtwood Smith, is the latest to join the impossibly awesome cast of ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO, which tracks how Hitchcock, at the height of his game as a director, decided to make a “lowly” horror movie.

Smith will play Geoffrey Shurlock, the administrator of the Motion Picture Production Code, the precursor to the MPAA… Obviously, Hitch ran into some troubles with PSYCHO’s racy (for the time) content.

Smith, who is perhaps best known for his role on “That 70s Show” (but will always be the evil bastard responsible for killing Alex Murphy in ROBOCOP to many of us) joins Anthony Hopkins, Scarlett Johansson, Helen Mirren, Jessica Biel, James D’Arcy, Danny Huston, Wallace Langham, Michael Wincott and Toni Collette in the Sacha Gervasi-directed film.

Based on Stephen Rebello’s book of the same name, ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO takes us behind the scenes for every step in the creation of the cinematic masterpiece – from the story’s original inspiration to the controversy surrounding the creation of the famous shower scene.
