It's been great to see Kurt Russell pop up in some fun projects these past few years, such as FURIOUS 7, BONE TOMAHAWK and THE HATEFUL EIGHT, but I think many of us are very much looking forward to seeing Russell as Ego, father to Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, in James Gunn's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2. We've yet to have seen Kurt Russell decked out as Ego as he's been absent from the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 marketing so far, but we have seen him in toy form once before.
We now have a better look at Kurt Russell as Ego, although sadly still in toy form, but this is a little more detailed than the one before. The figure made its debut at Toy Fair 2017 in New York and is part of the Marvel Legends action-figure line. Let's take a look.
Roguish and unpredictable, Ego and Star-Lord share many of the same qualities as father and son. But when it comes to defending the galaxy as each sees fit, their approaches unquestionably differ.
Bearded and glorious, I can't wait. Chris Pratt recently spoke about GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 and what it was like acting opposite Kurt Russell, and he described the experience as "humbling and exceptional. He’s surpassed any expectation I could have had." Let's hope we feel the same way about the movie itself, but, judging by the reaction it received at test-screenings, we may not have cause to worry.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
