Kurt Russell wanted to create a movie-universe based on 80’s action movies!

Kurt Russell has the coolest idea for a movie ever. A mash-up of 80's action stars, but not like Stallone's THE EXPENDABLES, where it was a collection of 80's action stars. No, he had a pitch back in the day for a Marvel-style mash-up of classic 80's action characters! Trust me it is as cool as it sounds.

Possibly cooler.

While he doesn't call them out, specifically, by name, Russell's planned flick would have included the mash-up of Bruce Willis' John McClane, Sylvester Stallone's John Rambo, and Schwarzenegger's… Actually, I'm not sure which "one best character" Russell is referring to in his quote below as far as Arnold goes… Huh, THE TERMINATOR doesn't seem to fit his pitch, but maybe that's it.

For now, we'll say he's referring to John Matrix from COMMANDO. And, as Matt Rooney said over at JoBlo, they could then call the movie THE JOHNNIES. Or, you know, THE JOHNS. That's not so great.

Whatever, call it SH*T SANDWICH: THE MOTION PICTURE and I'll be there along with every other person on the planet.

Kurt Russell on his epic 80's action star flick:

Years ago I did think that it would be– and nobody would listen to me–I thought it'd be great to sort of take a bunch of the characters, guys like Bruce Willis and Stallone and Schwarzenegger and whatever. They all had one best character that I thought would be interesting in the action-y world. I thought it'd be fun to put those guys together. That would've been a realistic version of what Marvel did but it was like talking to a wall. It was a little ahead of its time, I guess. I thought it would be really cool. And let them be the characters that they are.

Amen, Kurt Russell. Amen. Holy sh*t this sounds amazing. But hold up. I know what you're thinking, so who would Russell play in the film? Snake!?! Turns out… nope.

Kurt Russell on Snake being part of the group:

My thing about that was, if I was going to be Snake in that, I'm going to have to produce the movie. The only thing Snake's gonna do is walk in, look at 'em and then leave.

Hahaha. True story. In a funny side note, the interviewer asks Russell what Snake would be like joining the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and Russell said:

Snake could care less. About any of them, any of the things they do, or who they are. He just wants to get further away from the galaxy. (Laughs) He might want to steal one of their space ships and figure out how to run the thing, and ram it into a planet and get rid of himself. (Laughs) He's a different guy.

Haha. Oh, Kurt Russell, you are a f*cking gem, sir.

But, get this. I have an idea for how Russell COULD be in the flick. Stick with me here. The flick takes place in the 80s. Russell plays a Special Forces officer who recruits all the action heroes. Then, at the end of the movie, he loses his left eye (!) revealing his character to be none other than Snake Plissken! Cut to 10 years later and Russell is being hauled off to the New York maximum security prison.

Thank you. Thank you.

Unfortunately, there is no plan for producing Kurt Russell's COOLEST MOVIE EVER (or whatever his title is/was), but we do have a remake of Snake and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK coming our way via Robert Rodriguez… So that's something…

Let's not forget about John Conner's mom…
