Kristen Stewart to yell “KANEDAAA!” in Akira remake?

Twitch Film is reporting that Kristen Stewart has been offered the role of Kei in the upcoming Warner Brothers adaption of Katsuhiro Otomo’s classic AKIRA.

This would put her alongside Garrett Hedlund (TRON: LEGACY) who as reported is in talks to play Kaneda, her boyfriend in the film. Kei doesn’t have much of a role in the original film and manga- it’s much more about the relationship between Kaneda and his friend Tetsuo- but perhaps it will be expanded if she’s cast. 

What do you folks think about this potential casting? Can they keep the film so delightfully weird and brutal if they’re casting these young pretty actors as the leads?

Of course, no one’s been cast just yet, but as reported Gary Oldman, Helena Bonham Carter and Garrett Hedlund have all been offered roles. More on casting as we hear it…
