Kristen Stewart has singed on to her first post-TWILIGHT role by playing it safe and hopscotching into another franchise, that of SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. The actress will reprise her role as the now-Queen Snow White in the sequel to the film, which brought in a worldwide gross of $396 million. No word on whether or not Hemsworth will return, but I’m sure he’s a safe bet.
“The script has already been written and production will begin late next year,” said a source to Radaronline. “However, Rupert Sanders definitely won’t be a part of the project. Rupert didn’t want to be a part of it to begin with because he is desperately still trying to save his marriage. The search is still on for a new director.”
I never had any notion that they’d keep Sanders and toss Stewart for the sequel as one is much more bankable than the other. After their sordid affair was revealed during production the prospects of a sequel became mired in drama and it was unclear if the box office was enough to merit one. Thank the stars for worldwide grosses, I suppose.
Personally, I thought SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN was an asinine mess (but nowhere near as awful as the competing MIRROR, MIRROR), but I do like Stewart, who is still a very young actress (22) with a long road ahead of her if she plays her cards right. Another franchise is a safe venture and I can see the logic in taking the role, but I think Stewart has more in her. We’ll see.
Stewart will next be seen in ON THE ROAD, showing her lady lumps and giving handy’s, which is playing in limited venues.
The girl can rock a premiere, though…
