All the old favorites are being brought back for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS.
Rocksteady, Bebop and Casey Jones are already slated to be a part of the action, but it looks as if a familiar villain will also be introduced along the way.
As revealed in Rolling Stone’s latest conversation with Michael Bay concerning 13 HOURS, the topic of the NINJA TURTLES sequel and some of its visual effects came up… and lo and behold, we got some chatter on Krang.
They start with Ninja Turtles animation. Pablo Helman, a visual-effects supervisor who worked on the Star Wars prequels, appears onscreen and shows Bay the latest version of Krang, a new-to-the-movies villain who is, essentially, a disembodied brain inside a giant robot. “So we’ve eliminated the tentacles,” Helman explains. “Is it too monster-ish?”
“He could have some tentacles,” says Bay. “I just don’t want them coming out of the side. He looks like a stupid octopus.”
Stupid octopus, huh? Hmmm… How much does this mean they could be changing the appearance of Krang, as if they haven’t caught enough flack in the past for altering the looks of things?
Krang has gone through some changes in the past, particularly in the outer casing… but the tentacled brain has mostly stayed the same. We haven’t caught a look at Krang yet, so it’s time to start keeping an eye out in order to learn if we’ll be octopus-ing or not this summer. The search is on.
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS comes out of the sewers on June 3, 2016.
