After gifting genre fans with the Halloween-set anthology film Trick ‘r Treat, director Michael Dougherty set his sights on bringing horror to Christmastime with his film Krampus, which was also reasonably well received by genre fans. (Our own JimmyO gave it an 8/10 review.) The theatrical cut of Krampus wasn’t exactly what Dougherty wanted it to be, though, because the ratings board demanded some cuts he didn’t want to make before he could secure the PG-13 rating he was aiming for. Now Dougherty has teamed with Scream Factory to bring his “Naughty Cut” of Krampus to 4K UHD and Blu-ray – and copies can be purchased at THIS LINK!
Krampus has the following synopsis:
When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.
Here’s the information on the Naughty Cut release:
For the first time, the naughty (not nice) cut of Legendary Entertainment and Universal Pictures’ Krampus is on its way just in time to ruin your holidays! KRAMPUS: THE NAUGHTY CUT restores key dialogue and scenes that had to be trimmed from the original theatrical release in order to appease the MPAA. Supervised by filmmaker Michael Dougherty, this is the definitive version of the holiday cult classic for the entire family to enjoy.

I didn’t like Krampus enough to want to own a copy myself, but it looks like Scream Factory has given it a great release with this Naughty Cut edition. Will you be buying a copy?
