KONG: SKULL ISLAND is yet another property having a field day at Comic-Con this weekend, revealing the official poster on their Twitter this morning.
The design has good intentions, implying the massive size of its title ape with some amount of subtlety, but I can't help but feel like it looks like something created to promote a Playstation game back in 1997. That said, the color design is on point. That green flare disappearing into a grey mist is the best touch for sure. Check out the full poster for yourself below!
The screenplay for KONG: SKULL ISLAND, by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Derek Connolly, and Dan Gilroy follows:
a man who travels to the mythical island and home of the king of the apes. A team of explorers ventures inside what they find to be a treacherous island. The story is said to honor the King Kong lore but in a different time period.
KONG: SKULL ISLAND stars Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Tom Wilkinson, Thomas Mann, John Ortiz, and Shea Whigham. Will Brittain, Corey Hawkins, and Jason Mitchell will also appear, as a team of pilots. Look for the film in theaters on March 10, 2017.
This film shares a universe with Legendary's GODZILLA. Its release will be followed by GODZILLA 2 on June 8, 2018, and then the crossover rematch GODZILLA VS. KONG in 2020.
