I've heard some people saying that Stephen King has been all over the news lately, but as we here in the horror genre know, King is always around and always the source of news. It just seems that with the new adaptation of IT breaking box-office records left and right, everyone is taking notice of Mr. King.
With that in mind, we'd like to share the news that it seems as if two of King's more popular/classic titles – THE STAND and SALEM'S LOT – may yet again be on the table for adaptations. The news comes straight from King himself so I'm going to say for the time being the man knows what he's talking about.
Stephen King on THE STAND and SALEM'S LOT:
There’s talk about doing The Stand as an extended TV series, possibly for Showtime or CBS All Access, and there’s been some interest in developing Salem’s Lot as a feature, probably because people are saying, “Well, we took an old miniseries called It and turned it into a phenomenon, so maybe we can do it with something else.” Nothing succeeds like excess!
I don't know about you but I could totally go for another – longer more in-depth – version of THE STAND. I'm not too sure about (yet another) version of SALEM'S LOT. Especially a single film. But you never know, with the right creative team behind the scenes it could be a new classic.
